Jewellery
mandana jewellery is handcrafted in Europe – specifically in Germany and Spain – with great attention to detail.
At our mandana Manufactory in Pforzheim, the traditional ‘Goldstadt’ (City of Gold), we combine decades of craftsmanship with modern technology: this is where the majority of our jewellery is created from recycled 18-carat gold, recycled 950 platinum and Nevermined lab-grown diamonds.
In this way, we combine European craftsmanship with a clear commitment to quality, transparency and responsible luxury.
mandana stands for sustainable diamond jewellery made from responsibly sourced materials. Our jewellery is crafted from:
- Recycled 18-carat gold (750 gold) or recycled 950 platinum
- Nevermined lab-grown diamonds, grown in Germany
By using recycled precious metals, we reduce the need for new resources. Combined with lab-grown diamonds, this creates jewellery that redefines luxury and sustainability.
Whether a resizing is possible depends on the specific design of your ring. If your ring doesn’t fit perfectly, you can contact us at any time via our contact form.
We will assess on a case-by-case basis what adjustments are possible. Alternatively, you can return your unworn ring in its original packaging and reorder it in the size you require. You can find more information about the returns process under Returns & Exchanges.
Yes, many of our jewellery pieces can be personalised with an engraving. To request an engraving, simply send us an enquiry to customerservice@mandana-jewellery.com. Please note that not all jewellery is suitable for engraving and that the delivery time will be extended by approximately 2–3 working days due to the customised creation. Please also understand that once your mandana jewellery has been engraved, we can no longer allow returns.
Our jewellery is synonymous with the highest quality and precision craftsmanship. Should a fault nevertheless arise, your statutory warranty rights naturally apply in accordance with our GTC.
Our aim is to create jewellery that will be with you for years to come – through the big moments and the quiet ones in between.
To ensure your mandana jewellery retains its brilliance for a long time, we recommend that you take it off in certain situations:
- when showering, bathing or washing your hands when exercising
- when doing housework or gardening
- when coming into contact with chemicals (e.g. chlorine or cleaning products)
This will protect your piece of jewellery made from recycled gold or platinum and preserve the brilliance of your lab-grown diamonds.
Of course, you can have your mandana jewellery repaired by us if something breaks. Send us a message via the contact form.
In principle, you are, of course, free to have your mandana jewellery engraved by a jeweller at your own expense. Please note that not all items of jewellery are suitable for engraving and that we cannot accept any liability for any consequences or damage arising from the engraving. Please also bear in mind that we cannot accept returns once your mandana jewellery has been engraved.
In the event of a fault or defect in your mandana jewellery, we recommend that you always contact our customer service team first, as we cannot accept any costs or liability for repairs carried out by a jeweller without our prior approval.
The right ring size is crucial for optimal comfort. With these tips, you can easily determine it yourself:
Using a ring:
Measure the inside diameter of a ring that fits and compare it with our size chart.
Using paper or thread:
Wrap a narrow strip of paper or a piece of string around your finger, mark the point where they meet, and measure the length. This is your finger circumference. This is how you can quickly find the right size for your mandana ring.
Coloured alloys determine the colour of your gold jewellery. Our sustainable diamond jewellery is made from 750 gold (18 carat). Depending on your personal taste, you can also choose from three coloured alloys: yellow gold, white gold or rose gold:
- Yellow gold: Yellow gold is the classic gold alloy. Adding copper and silver can help precisely control the colour of the yellow gold alloy. Although this classic colour alloy is the closest to the colour of ‘original gold’, it is used to make the piece of jewellery more resilient. Yellow gold remains the most popular gold alloy used in wedding rings.
- White gold: To obtain white gold as a colour alloy, silver, platinum or palladium, for example, are added to the gold alloy. This reduces the colour intensity and creates a paler shade. If the white gold alloy contains platinum or palladium, it is more resistant to scratches. A white gold alloy is a great way to highlight the brilliance and purity of diamonds. It’s the ideal setting for the diamond on your finger.
- Rose gold: Although rose gold was originally used only very rarely in rings, it has been a trend colour for fashion, smartphones, and of course jewellery, for some years now. The reddish shimmer in rose gold alloys is created by adding copper and silver. The more copper is added, the redder the alloy appears, which is why it is often referred to as ‘red gold’. Rose gold flatters every skin type and is a little subtler than bold yellow gold. But a rose gold ring also looks perfect when combined with yellow and white gold counterparts.
All variants are made from recycled 18-carat gold and are refined in colour through the addition of other metals. We also offer jewellery made from recycled 950 platinum: bright and shimmering, robust and perfect for jewellery designed to be worn for a lifetime.
Pure gold is a rather soft precious metal, which makes it very easy to shape and process. However, if we used pure gold for jewellery, it would quickly develop unsightly scratches and other damage. To prevent this, other elements, such as silver or palladium, are added to pure gold. There are many different grades, from 333 (8 carat) to 999 gold (24 carat). In Europe, three gold alloys are most commonly used in gold jewellery:
- 333 gold: 333 gold consists of 33.3% pure gold and corresponds to 8 carats. 8 carat gold therefore has the lowest gold content for gold jewellery. In Germany, this gold alloy is the minimum permitted in the jewellery industry for gold jewellery to be designated as such.
- 585 gold: In 585 gold, the amount of fine gold is 58.5%. 585 gold is also referred to as 14 carat gold. This gold alloy is the most commonly used alloy for gold rings and other gold jewellery worldwide.
- 750 gold: 750 gold has the highest proportion of gold of all three alloys, at 75%, amounting to 18 carats. Alongside 585 gold, it is the most commonly used in gold jewellery in Germany. The jewellery from mandana is made exclusively from 750 gold.
To keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend cleaning it regularly and gently:
- Place your jewellery in lukewarm water with a little mild washing-up liquid
- Leave it to soak for approx. 15 minutes
- Rinse it with clean water
- Dry it with a soft, lint-free cloth
This will ensure your jewellery made from recycled gold or platinum with lab-grown diamonds remains beautifully radiant for years to come.
Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds with a new, responsible origin.
Nevermined lab-grown diamonds in our jewellery are optically, chemically and physically identical to mined diamonds and meet the highest quality standards in accordance with the 4Cs (Carat, Colour, Clarity, Cut).
Instead of forming deep within the earth over millions of years, they grow under controlled conditions within a matter of weeks. Yet, just like mined diamonds, they consist of 100% pure carbon. The difference therefore lies not in the diamond itself, but solely in its origin: Nevermined lab-grown diamonds are grown in Germany – transparently, in an environmentally friendly manner and to the highest quality standards.
Yes, 100%. Lab-grown diamonds are optically, chemically and physically identical to those that have been formed in mines for centuries. They also do not differ in terms of structure, hardness or brilliance. Even experts can only tell the difference using special measuring equipment or by looking at the laser engraving.
This makes lab-grown diamonds a conscious choice for sustainable diamond jewellery.
Two methods are generally used to produce lab-grown diamonds: the CVD and HPHT processes. The Nevermined lab-grown diamonds we use are produced exclusively using the CVD process. ‘CVD’ stands for ‘Chemical Vapour Deposition’.
In this process, small diamond flakes, known as ‘seeds’, are placed in a vacuum chamber. Plasma is generated in this chamber, and the gases within it are broken down during the process. The carbon released settles on the surface of the seeds, allowing the diamonds to grow layer by layer. The rough diamonds are then cut and polished in exactly the same way as mined diamonds and certified by an institute such as the International Gemological Institute (IGI). Laboratory-grown diamonds are also identified as such in their certificates.
The 4 Cs are criteria that define the quality and value of a cut diamond. Both naturally grown and lab-grown diamonds are assessed against these criteria and receive an appropriate certificate (for example, from GIA or IGI). In addition, the certificate for lab-grown diamonds indicates that the diamond is a grown diamond.
- Carat refers to the weight of a diamond, whereby one carat is always the equivalent of exactly 0.2 grams. The value of a diamond tends to increase with its carat number.
- The colour of a diamond is indicated on a scale from D to Z, where D stands for the best and Z for the worst value. The further forward a diamond's colour is on the colour scale, the more valuable it is.
- The clarity of a diamond refers to the amount of inclusions. Inclusions can also occur in lab-grown diamonds. The fewer inclusions a diamond has, the more valuable it is.
- The cut is the most important criterion when it comes to the brilliance of a diamond. Often the word ‘cut’ is also synonymous with the shape of the diamond. In the case of the 4 Cs, however, the cut is all about the symmetry, proportions and polish of a diamond.
The diamonds in your mandana jewellery come from our own production of Nevermined. The ‘Nevermined Lab’ is our own diamond laboratory in the middle of the Ruhr area - more precisely in Essen, Germany. Here our lab-grown diamonds are produced under the highest scientific standards - without the mining of natural diamond deposits.
The name Nevermined is no coincidence, but a clear statement: our diamonds do not come from mines. And they are not created under questionable conditions anywhere in the world, but in a resource- and climate-friendly way right here on our doorstep – with 100% certified green electricity and in a transparent production process for which we take full responsibility.
A common misconception is that raw materials such as nickel or iron are still needed to produce lab-grown diamonds. This is not the case with our technology: our Nevermined diamonds are created using the modern CVD process – without any of these metals. Our hydrogen is also produced by electrolysis from water, not from fossil fuels. Water consumption is less than 1 ml per carat and is almost completely recycled.
Nevermined not only stands for ‘never mined’, but also for the claim to rethink jewellery - fair, sustainable and beautiful.
Ja.
